Ray Sefo vs. Kevin Jordan!

Be sure to watch the Strikeforce fights LIVE on Showtime this Friday night (25th) as Xtreme Couture’s Ray Sefo makes his U.S. MMA debut aginst Kevin Jordan.  Ray’s been training for many months for this fight with coach Shawn Tompkins, myself, and the rest of the team at Xtreme Couture.  Ray’s a six-time kickboxing world champion and has competed in the K-1 World Grand Prix eight times.  Here is a look at some of his career highlights:

Congratulations Vitor, Tyson, & Gray!

Xtreme Couture’s Vitor Belfort, Tyson Griffin, and Gray Maynard  earned UFC victories this past week.  Gray started it off with a split decision victory over Roger Huerta at UFC Fight Night 19.  Tyson took out Hermes Franca in round two by TKO at UFC 103.   In the main event at UFC 103, Vitor stopped Rich Franklin by TKO in round one.  These guys trained hard for their fights, it was great to see them come out on top.

Belfort, Kampmann, & Griffin @ UFC 103!

Xtreme Couture will be well represented this weekend at UFC 103.  I had the priviledge of helping Martin Kampmann, Tyson Griffin, and Vitor Belfort prepare for their fights.   These guys are in great shape and will face some tough competition Saturday night.  Martin welcomes Paul Daley to the UFC, Tyson takes on Hermes Franca, and Vitor will fight Rich Franklin in the main event.  Don’t miss this pay-per-view!

Gray & Sam @ UFC Fight Night!

Xtreme Couture’s Gray Maynard and Sam Stout both fight next week (9/16/09) LIVE on Spike TV.  Gray takes on Roger Huerta, and Sam fights Phillipe Nover.  Both guys have trained hard and are in phenomenal shape!

Congratulations Evan!

Congratulations to Evan Dunham for his victory over Marcus Aurelio at UFC 102.  Evan trained like an animal at Xtreme Couture for this fight.  No one has ever blown through my conditioning workouts like Evan did in preparation for this fight.  I look forward to working with Evan again in the future.

Congratulations Ryan & Matt!

Congratulations to Matthew Polly and Ryan Couture on their victories at the Tuff-N-Uff show in Las Vegas.  Matthew’s victory came after his opponent  didn’t answer the bell after round two.  Ryan stopped his opponent in the first round by arm bar. 

Couture & Dunham @ UFC 102!

Randy Couture and Evan Dunham are both fighting at UFC 102 in Portland, Oregon on August 29th.  Evan’s fighting Marcus Aurelio and Randy takes on Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira in the main event.  Both guys have been training hard for weeks and are in great shape.  Here are some pictures from this mornings training session.

Mt. Charleston

Instead of doing the normal conditioning workouts inside of Xtreme Couture, we took a trip to Mt. Charleston for a run.  Mt. Charleston is about 45 minutes outside of Las Vegas.  As you get higher up the mountain, the traffic decreases.  Ricky Hatton, Floyd Mayweather Jr., and Mike Tyson have been known to do their roadwork there in the past.  Our run was at approximately 8,000 feet.  It was a nice change of pace being outside, and the workout was no joke.  Today, our group included Brice Ritani-coe, Ray Sefo, myself, Randy Couture, Jay Hieron, Alex Shoenauer, Evan Dunham, and Martin Kampmann.

Patrick Willis

Over the past couple of weeks I’ve gotten the chance to work with San Francisco 49ers pro-bowl linebacker Patrick Willis.  Patrick’s been at Xtreme Couture working with the MMA coaches and myself in preparation for his upcoming football season.  Football and MMA are two totally different sports, so the training is completely different.  This was a nice change of pace for me.  Patrick is an unbelievable athlete and I wish him and his team the best of luck this season.
